About Energy Disks
A modern guide to an ancient system of understanding.
Our Purpose
Energy Disks exists to be an accessible, modern resource for understanding the chakra system. The seven chakras are far more than a New Age curiosity — they represent a sophisticated, centuries-old philosophical model of the universe that maps the journey from matter to consciousness, from survival to transcendence, from the body to the spirit. Our goal is to present this system with the depth and respect it deserves, while making it approachable for contemporary seekers.
The content on this site draws heavily from traditional Hindu and yogic teachings, particularly the work of Anodea Judith, whose books Eastern Body, Western Mind and Wheels of Life remain among the most thorough and insightful modern treatments of the chakra system. Judith describes the chakras as “a seven-leveled philosophical model of the universe” — a framework for understanding the profound connection between body, mind, and spirit that has been recognized by yogic practitioners for thousands of years.
We believe that understanding your energy centers is not a matter of belief or faith, but of direct experience. The chakras provide a language for the patterns we all feel — the tightness in the chest when we guard our hearts, the lump in the throat when we swallow our truth, the groundlessness when our sense of safety is shaken. This site is an invitation to explore those patterns with curiosity, honesty, and care.
The System
Energy Disks focuses on the seven major chakras of the Hindu tantric tradition — the system most widely known and practiced in the West. These seven centers run along the spine from the base (Muladhara) to the crown of the head (Sahasrara), each associated with specific physical, emotional, and spiritual dimensions of human experience.
It is worth noting that this is not the only chakra system in existence. Various traditions within Hinduism, Buddhism, and other spiritual lineages describe different numbers of chakras, different locations, and different attributes. Some systems describe five centers, others twelve, still others many more. We honor all of these traditions while choosing to focus on the seven-chakra model because of its depth, coherence, and practical applicability to everyday life.
